Venue payment schedules

How rental installments work when you book a venue through Promise Tickets.

When you book a venue through Promise Tickets, the rental is paid on a payment schedule the venue owner defines when they price your proposal — for example, a 25% deposit at booking and the remaining 75% due 30 days before your event. If the venue doesn't define one, the full rental is due at the event date.

What producers agree to at booking

Booking a venue is a promise to pay. Before you can book:

  1. You save a card. Promise Tickets vaults a payment method (via Stripe) that can be charged for each installment on its due date.
  2. You accept the schedule. The installment amounts and due dates are shown before you commit; booking locks them in.

By saving your card and booking, you authorize Promise Tickets to charge each rental installment on its due date.

Warning

Ticket sales reduce what's charged to your card, but they do not remove the obligation. Each installment is collected even if your campaign doesn't reach its threshold or never converts. Only releasing the contract stops future installments — and the deposit is forfeited to the venue.

How each installment is collected

On an installment's due date, Promise Tickets collects it in two steps:

  1. Ticket sales first. If your campaign converted, rental money retained from your ticket revenue at conversion is applied to the installment.
  2. Your card for the rest. Any remaining balance is charged to your saved card.

The venue receives the installment (minus the venue booking fee) once it's collected.

If a card charge fails

Your booking is not cancelled. We retry the charge automatically (up to 5 attempts) and email you each time. Update your payment method or contact support to settle the balance — unresolved failures are escalated for manual follow-up.

Releasing a booked contract

If you release a booked contract before the event:

  • Future installments are cancelled — nothing further is charged.
  • Your deposit is forfeited to the venue (the first collected installment).
  • Later installments you already paid are refunded to your card. Refunds typically appear within 5–10 business days.

For venue owners

You define the schedule when you set the price on a proposal: each installment is a percentage of the rental, due either at booking or a number of days before the event. Percentages must total 100%. The schedule locks when the producer books. You're paid each installment (minus the booking fee) as it's collected — you don't wait for post-event signoff to receive scheduled payments.
